My initial opportunities were on excellent creative teams with sought-after ad agencies. I cut my teeth on global programs for high-profile clients such as Virgin Air, X-Box, Coca-Cola, Minute Maid, Shell, BP, Mobile, Exxon, Texaco, Radio Shack, National Geographic, Radio Shack, Domino’s Pizza, Dell, Donna Karen, Best Buy, Swatch, Buc-ees, Sysco, Garden Ridge Pottery, Academy, National Geographic, Better Homes & Gardens, Motorola, Nokia, and more recognizable brands.
As an artist who creates visual concepts to convey messages, I expand on ideas and convert abstract concepts into visual representations. As a master illustrator, I’ve worked in film, publishing, logo, and web design, advertising departments and industrial applications.
In the Director role at various agencies, I guided the direction of creative projects by developing a big-picture vision and brand guidelines. I oversaw every stage of the creative process, including strategy, negotiating approvals, teams, communication, and budgets.
With UI/UX best practices, I use Elementor HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript to develop dynamic web content. I write clean, maintainable code and use cross-browser testing and debugging to develop responsive layouts for multiple platforms.
I have been fortunate to be a part of a string of high-profile clients such as Virgin Air, Xbox, Coca-Cola, Shell, BP, Exxon, Radio Shack, Sage, Domino’s Pizza, Dell, Donna Karen, Best Buy, Swatch, Bucee’s, Sysco, Garden Ridge Pottery, Academy, Oshman’s, National Geographic, Better Homes, Motorola, Smithsonian, Nokia, The Houston Rockets, United Way, Red Cross, Disney and more.
I worked within the advertising agency construct for ten years while I learned how to code and watched the web bubble burst. Afterward, I transitioned to web development hives, expanding my creative direction to web design and transitioning to project management. My natural talent for communication and expertise in technology and design led to being a liaison for account relationships and the media. I worked with television, radio, video, newspaper, magazine, and social media marketing to get the results clients needed from production departments on time and budget.
After art school, I worked in production departments for many advertising agencies first as a color retoucher, then graphic designer and illustrator. I worked my way up to art director then creative director, and after ten years, I learned how to code and watched the internet bubble burst. I rode that bubble transitioning into web development hives, expanding my creative vision to web design. My natural talent for communication and the rare combination of graphic design photography, and web development led to project management. I officially transitioned into project management for a web development group, acting as a liaison between developers and creative teams. I created a safe and motivating space for our team to achieve production and marketing goals within the perimeters of time and budget constraints. As a liaison for account relationships, I worked with television, radio, video, newspaper, magazine, and social media marketing departments.
With a talent for building creative teams, and meeting and exceeding client marketing goals, I oversaw more than two hundred and fifty websites and worked with agencies as well as private companies for almost two decades. My strength of creative vision and strategic planning in building brands led to a succession of independent consulting and facilitation assignments. Working with mid-size Texas manufacturers I was hired to build in-house digital creative departments, refine processes, and train teams to maximize in-house media marketing resources. By rethinking brand strategies to maximize sales percentages I looked for opportunities to improve content and work with upper management to strategize sustainable media campaigns for the long run.
I have had the honor of volunteering my time with many nonprofit organizations over the years, such as the Houston Public Library, Mahatma Gandhi Library, Dikembe Mutombo Foundation, Arthritis Foundation, American Red Cross, M.D. Anderson Children’s Project, 90.1 FM Pacifica, KUHF Channel 8, Houston Heights Association, United Methodist Church, YMCA, DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids), Girls In Tech, Generosity Culture, Undies For Everyone, United Way, and The Houston Center For Hearing and Speech to name a few.
For my pleasure, and for many great causes, I have pursued photography, freelance writing, and blogging for more than two decades. I have written hundreds of press releases for volunteer organizations. I have organized convention-style corporate events, live music events, educational picketing, outdoor markets, fundraising opportunities, community theater performances, and art openings. In 2016, Google invited me to be an official Ambassador for my city, a title I am thrilled to hold today.
